e-Photon/ONe+ directory service

A directory service for the Network of Excellence e-Photon/ONe+ has been created. The LDAP directory server is located at the University of Bologna's (DEIS-UniBO) premises and has been set up in order to collect information related to people involved in the project. Such information is useful to the project administration and WP leaders to keep track of who is involved in the different activities and to manage the reporting.

The service is also intended to provide an easy way to retrieve contact information from everyone involved in the project and to represent an additional communication tool between partners. Furthermore, personal information stored in the directory server (such as username and password) is used to access all the internet-based services provided by the NoE (such as the private section of this website), thereby eliminating the need to remember different passwords.

Subscription to the project mailing lists is also managed through the directory service.

Please, note that everyone officially involved in NoE activities (i.e., for whom e1+ money can be spent) MUST be registered to the directory service.

A web interface to manage the directory service is available at https://e1.unibo.it. It can be used to access the e1+ directory, retrieve and/or modify user information and manage WP memberships and mailing lists subscriptions.

 Detailed instructions

To access the directory server, a user must be registered to the system and obtain a username and password. For each participating institution, the following reference persons are responsible for user registration:

• Local General Assembly member
• Local JPA Representatives
• Local Administrators

To obtain a valid username, a user should contact one of the local reference persons, which are able to check whether the user is already registered and have the rights to create a new account.

The list of GA members, local JPA representatives and local Administrators is available here. Please note that only the Project Office has the right to appoint these roles.

When a user is registered and knows his username, he can try to log on https://e1.unibo.it leaving the password field blank: a new password will be generated and mailed to the user.

Once logged-in, a user can modify the password and update personal information. Each user involved in the NoE activities is required to manage WP memberships through the directory server, by selecting the WPs he wants to be involved to.

When becoming a member of a given WP, a user is automatically subscribed to the related mailing list. To unsubscribe, the user must remove himself from that WP.

Every registered user is automatically subscribed to the general e1+ mailing list.
